This was the first week for art lessons! It was raining sideways but a few kiddos still decided to brave the weather to come make some art:-)
August is back to school time when students, teachers, and parents prepare themselves for learning. All month our lessons will confront challenges at school. Monday we talked about hitting the books again, studying, and learning. We must remember that our first teacher is God and that He instructs us through His word. All wisdom ultimately comes from Him. We learned these two scriptures:
“For the Lord gives us wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” Proverbs 2:6 When I read this the kids immediately guessed that we’d be doing something with owls! We discussed another scripture that has special significance to all of us artsy folks. “Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.” Ecclesiastes 9:10
Check out the owl silhouettes we made. Not everyone got done on Monday but there are a couple of pictures of the ones that did. We had fun picking out patterned papers for the silhouettes. We discussed how to coordinate the colors. We learned about asymmetrical balance and “tricks” for cutting small things. I can’t wait until next week!
If you would like a spot in one of the art classes and live in the New Albany area, it isn’t too late! Go to the art lessons page for more info or leave your number for me here so I can give you a call!
