Release the Kraken!

I can’t believe I’m just now posting this. I painted it last summer for my sister-in-law after we dreamed up the idea in the pool.

Big, big octopus. Leetle-bitty ship. I loved painting this one. Mostly because it was a break from the norm, but also because I really enjoy paying attention to tedious, persnickety little details. I forced myself to at least loosen up on the water:)

I wanted the bottom half to look murky and foreboding. And hopefully if you look at the top, it looks peaceful and beautiful. Tiny dots and speckles were meant to convey the idea of old film.

While looking for inspiration for the ocean surface part of the painting I found so much beautiful artwork- I want to paint more! Click here to commission artwork.
